Stop trying to make "neurotypical" happen.
It's not going to happen.

They gave you a Burn Book full of your own "flaws."
We'll help you build your own user manual.
It's way more fetch.

Your "Assessment Anxiety" Isn't Irrational.

The whole idea of being "assessed" probably makes your skin crawl. And it should. You're likely picturing a cold, sterile room, a stranger with a clipboard asking you a million questions that don't make sense, and a series of timed tests designed to measure all the ways you don't measure up.

You're not wrong.

The traditional assessment process is a masterclass in making human beings feel like lab rats. And let's be honest—the clipboard guy measuring your "deficits" probably couldn't pass his own attention test if there was a squirrel outside the window.

It's a system built to find deficits, rooted in outdated science that compares you to a mythical "normal" person who doesn't actually exist. The DSM itself was designed to give you a label →, not a life—and its structure systematically minimizes the role of trauma and life adversity in how it categorizes you.

Here's the truth: Your brain isn't broken. The measurement system was.

ADHD isn't a binary disorder—it's a continuous trait. Autism isn't a defect—it's an alternative operating system. The research is clear: these neurological differences have been maintained in the population for thousands of years because they provide evolutionary advantages, not just "challenges."

That's not what the traditional assessment is designed to tell you.

This isn't a test. There's no grade.
The Clarity Assessment has no score, no comparison to "normal," and no timed pressure. It's a conversation.

Not ready for a call? Text first

I Don't Test. I Translate.

My Clarity Assessment isn't a test you can pass or fail. It's a guided, collaborative process where I act as your personal translator, helping you decode the unique language of your own nervous system.

Think less "standardized testing" and more "building an IKEA bookshelf together"—except the instructions are in YOUR language, and we don't skip the part where you wonder if you're doing it wrong. (You're not. IKEA instructions are just garbage.)

I operate on a simple belief: you are the world's foremost expert on your own life. My job isn't to tell you who you are; it's to provide the framework and the tools for you to tell me.

I listen to your story. I explore your strengths. I map out the real-world challenges you face.

The entire goal is to co-create the one thing the traditional system never gives you: a "User Manual" for your brain—a practical, personalized, jargon-free guide that explains your unique wiring, honors your strengths, and gives you actionable strategies to build a life that actually fits you.

Not the other way around.

A Conversation in Three Acts.

I've designed this process to feel more like a collaborative storytelling session than a clinical assessment. Think of it as your own Hero's Journey—with you as the protagonist.

Act I: The Story

It all starts with you. In our first sessions, I use my Tiered Narrative Inquiry → to collaboratively map your unique history. I'm not looking for a clinical checklist; I'm looking to understand the world through your eyes.

This isn't about recounting every IEP meeting. It's about getting a clean read on the core narratives of your Default Mode Network →—the stories your brain tells itself when you're not paying attention.

Act II: The Discovery

This is where we explore how your brain actually works. Using my gamified "Clarity Toolkit," we'll dive deep into your cognitive strengths, your sensory profile, and the systems you use to manage your energy and attention.

Yes, it's basically a personality quiz for your brain. But like, a useful one. Not a "What kind of bread are you?" quiz. (Although if you're curious: you're probably sourdough. A little tangy, takes time, worth the wait.)

I use evidence-based tools like the Brown EF/A Scales → and the Sensory Profile → not as tests for a score, but as collaborative maps.

Act III: The Roadmap

The final step is delivering your "User Manual." I'll synthesize everything we've learned into a comprehensive, jargon-free guide to your own neurology.

This is a collaborative, "aha!" moment where we connect all the dots together. It's a living document, full of personalized insights and actionable strategies that you can start using immediately to build a life that honors your wiring.

Ready to hear your story for the first time?

You Don't Walk Away with a Label.
You Walk Away with a Field Guide to You.

The endpoint of a traditional assessment is usually a dense, 20-page PDF that feels like it was written in another language. It's a list of your deficits, stamped with a clinical label, and handed over with a shrug. It's a dead end.

My process ends with a beginning. You receive your "User Manual"—a comprehensive, personalized, and profoundly practical guide to your own neurology. It's written in plain English, for you.

Inside your guide, you'll find:

  • 🗺️ A detailed map of your innate cognitive strengths and superpowers
  • ⚙️ An overview of your unique operating system—from interest-based motivation to your specific sensory needs
  • 🛠️ A toolkit of personalized, actionable strategies and accommodations for home, school, or work
  • 💬 Language and frameworks to help you better understand and advocate for yourself

This is more than a report. It's your roadmap. It's the evidence you need to stop blaming yourself and the permission you deserve to start building a life that truly fits.

Let's Talk Money. (I Know, I Know.)

Here's the part nobody wants to talk about: I can't bill insurance for assessments. As an LPC, insurance companies don't consider me "qualified enough" to do the work I've been doing successfully for years. Classic, right?

Sessions are $125/hour. The whole process typically takes somewhere between 3-6 hours for most adults.

You've got options for how we do this:

Option 1: The Deep Dive

We schedule a longer session (or two) to complete the main assessment work, then a follow-up to go through your User Manual together. This is great if you want to knock it out and get your answers faster.

Option 2: The Weekly Build

We work through the assessment over weekly one-hour sessions. For an adult exploring an AuDHD diagnosis, this usually looks like 4-5 sessions plus a final review. Some people like this pace better—it gives you time to process between sessions, and there's no huge time block to carve out of your week.

For kiddos who need detailed documentation for school supports—think IEPs, 504 plans, the works—the process might run closer to 8 hours total. That's the high end, and it's because we're building something comprehensive that schools and specialists can actually use.

Here's the workaround: If you decide to continue therapy with me after your assessment, I CAN bill those ongoing sessions to insurance. So if the fit is there, you get your clarity AND ongoing support without the payment headache. No pressure either way—after a few sessions, if the fit isn't there, you're not locked in to anything.

The assessment is the investment. Everything after is up to you.

Honest Talk: This Isn't For Everyone.

The Clarity Assessment isn't the right fit if:

  • You need a quick diagnosis for an insurance form
  • You want a label without the work of self-understanding
  • You're looking for someone to "fix" you

This IS the right fit if:

  • You're ready to finally get answers—for yourself
  • You've felt misunderstood by previous therapists
  • You suspect standard labels don't capture your actual experience
  • You want to understand the "why" behind your brain's wiring

If that's you, let's talk.

Questions About Assessments

Instead of a confusing clinical report, you get a personalized "User Manual" for your brain. This is a comprehensive, strengths-based guide written in plain English that details your unique cognitive profile and provides a toolkit of practical, real-world strategies you can use immediately.

What's in the User Manual →

The entire Clarity Assessment takes 2-7 hours, split across a few sessions. We offer two paths: an Integrated Path woven into weekly therapy sessions, or a Deep-Dive Path with one longer session (2-3 hours) plus a follow-up to review your "User Manual."

Why the wait is worth it →

Our Clarity Assessment is designed to give you profound self-understanding and practical life strategies. While the "User Manual" is an incredibly powerful tool for self-advocacy, it is not a traditional diagnostic report designed to satisfy insurance or institutional requirements. We focus on providing answers for you, not just labels for them.

Getting accommodations at school →

The conversational nature of our Clarity Assessment makes it perfectly suited for telehealth. We can conduct all our sessions securely online, making the process accessible to anyone in Missouri, regardless of your location.

Telehealth assessment FAQ →

Our assessment is ideal for those who feel misunderstood by previous therapists or who suspect the standard labels don't fit their experience. If you're seeking deep self-understanding and a "why" behind your brain's wiring, rather than just a formal label for insurance, our collaborative process is a great fit.

Why collaborative matters →

Getting your User Manual is often the beginning, not the end! Think of it as getting the cheat codes to a game you've been playing on hard mode your whole life. Most clients continue with therapy to start actually using those cheat codes—because knowing the shortcuts and using them are two different things.

The good news? If you decide to keep working together, those sessions CAN be billed to insurance. So you get your clarity AND ongoing support without the payment headache.
